Divorce can be a traumatic loss for children. They often don’t have the words to express their sadness, anger, and confusion. Here are some books to help start the conversation, and show them that they are not alone and not at fault.
One of my favorites is the classic Dinosaurs Divorce by Marc Brown. Lots of kids I’ve worked with also loved Fred Stays with Me! by Nancy Coffelt.
Here is a list of titles for you to check out. Please let me know how it goes if you read them to your kids. I hope they help with the healing.
